Bishkek to Karakol via Ara-Bel Plateau

Depart early from Bishkek and begin your journey toward the southern shore of Issyk-Kul Lake.

Continue to the beautiful Barskoon Gorge, one of the most picturesque valleys in the Issyk-Kul region.

Highest point: ~3,800–3,900 m

Drive higher into the mountains to reach the breathtaking Ara-Bel Plateau — one of the highest accessible road points in Kyrgyzstan.

After descending from the plateau, continue your journey along the eastern part of Issyk-Kul Lake toward Karakol.
